Chemical/Process Engineer
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Create, evaluate and improve on recipes and processes in manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving efficiencies and yields of processes.
  • Apply engineering principles and knowledge to support the development, implementation, commissioning and validation of the successful operation of applications and solutions.
  • Work on project teams to realize the objectives of technical programs and projects involving automation, process control software and process control technology. 
  • Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process.
  • Process engineering: familiarity with Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, basic chemical and mechanical processes and control interfaces
  • Acts as the “gate keeper” of process control discipline within production area
  • Support the I/O and PLC development.
  • Create and maintain facility CAD drawings.
  • Lead and/or support challenging and exciting programs to improve safety, quality, reliability, uptime, capacity and yields.
  • Develops effective working relationships with Manufacturing, Maintenance and Services personnel to gather information, receive feedback and properly understand the specialized needs of their areas. 
  • Attends various training sessions relating to process programming, communications systems and control of sensing devices.
  • Troubleshooting hardware/software problems and determining if problem is computer or electronic problem. Insure projects/tasks are completed on time
  • Work with contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting to assure safe, continuous operation is a must. 
  • Provide suggestions during incident investigations.
  • Provide technical support for new project start-ups, test runs, and special procedures as needed. 
  • Research new manufacturing technology. 

    Job Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering and one or more years of experience in developing and commissioning process control applications. (EET is good too)
  • Fundamental understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
  • Desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience implementing improvements in systems capabilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise and understanding of PLC architecture and demonstrated skills in configuring, documenting and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of the principles of operation, reliability and performance characteristics of process measurement instrumentation, control valves and VFDs.
  • Familiar with PID controls and documentation.
  • Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in ISA88 Batch Control systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of various interfacing technologies such as Ethernet, Modbus, OPC, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation systems and electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience with process control and instrumentation tuning
  • Ability to manage both long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.
